- Czech Republic (PRAGUE)
- No Czech channel covers Premiership matches. However, if you're
visiting Prague do not despair, as Oldrich Houba (a Prague Gooner)
sends us the following top grade info:
"there are several bars around Prague that pick up
the games either from Sky, or other foreign based channels. Usually there
are 2 live games on Saturday, two on Sunday, and the Monday night match.
Most popular bar wher you can catch it is called "Hvezda", located on "Ve
smeckach" street, just two minutes walk from Venceslas square (maine square
in downtown Prague). Another place with the same schedule is called
"Legends", located at "Tyn" straight in the heart of Old Town in Prague (10
Min. walk from Venceslas square).
Since they show so many games, Arsenal on almost every week, besides they
also show all Champions league games.
I hope this will help Gooners who are visiting Prague!"
Oldrich, you're a star.

- Netherlands
- Thanks to Pierre for the following:
Just to let you know that Canal+ are also present in The Netherlands:
http://www.canalplus.nl.
They have 2 channels, and a very strong european football coverage, on
top of the (very boring) national league coverage. On your average week,
you get:
- Saturday night game live from Spanish league (usually Real or Barca)
- Sunday night game live from Italian league (Juve, Lazio, Roma, Milan(s)...)
- Monday night game live from English Premier league (whichever game is on Monday night that week)
- when you guys are having a game with a funny schedule (e.g. Sat/Sun around noon), it's usually on live too
- events are usually on live as well (various national/league cup semis and finals)
- complete round-up (all goals, all leagues) on Sunday night late
- every Champions League evening: 1 game live, all games round-up
Quite a treat actually. I manage to see many Arsenal games, either live
or highlights. At least once a month live I reckon.
- Poland
-
3 lots of coverage per week on Polish Canal+. Sky matches
on Sundays and Mondays, plus on Saturdays one live match and one
tape-delayed in full. Thanks to Jarek Grabowski for the info.
- France
- In addition to canal+ (see above) there is TV5 (see their web site) which carries some games and
can be found on cable in some other
european countries.
- Spain
- Premier League coverage is supplied by ViaDigital unfortunately most
bars have CanalPlus instead, but it is possible to find Via. They tend
to show one match on Saturday live, plus the SKY Sunday and Monday
games. All 3 get repeated through the week. See the TV sections of
the tabloids Marca and AS on the Friday/Saturday beforehand for details of
what matches are being covered. Thanks to an anonymous informant!
- NRK (Norway)
-
NRK show some
games live for free, and others can be got on satellite.
Lucky Lars Arsenal site has this News page which often tells you when a forthcoming Arsenal
game is going to be covered (NRK tell Lars whenever they're going to cover
a game).
- Syn (Iceland)
- SYN show live matches on Sundays and Mondays (same matches as SKY).
STOD 2 show live matches on Saturdays (same as CanalPlus in Norway -
see above for link). (Thanks to Thor Stefansson)
- Germany/Austria
- German pay TV channel Premiere World has 2 live games
every Saturday (they have 3 or 4 sports channels) plus
all the games covered by Sky in the UK, and all the Champs League games. You can even get
English (ITV) commentary. The channel is carried by most
ex-pat pubs.
(thanks
to Michael & Konrad)
Middle East
- Arab Digital Distribution
- Show Premier League games (on their "ART" channel(s))
in the UAE, around the middle-east, and some north african countries.
See ADD website for
more information.
(thanks to Stephan Ottewill for the info).
Asia
- Astro Supersport
- Coverage includes: Malaysia, Thailand,
India, Philipines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Tawiwan, Singapore, Brunei)
Danny Maher writes from Thailand: "Numerous satellite and terrestrial
stations show
Premier League matches in Thailand but the best service
is from the Malaysian satellite station Astro on their Supersport channel
(best both for quantity of coverage and for the English commentary.
Typical coverage is two sometimes three games from the Saturday
fixtures (one live the other(s) delayed naturally), the Sunday match,
the Monday match and the occasional big one during the week. I would
estimate that we have probably seen about half of the Arsenal fixtures so
far this season (98-99). A minor drawback is that the Saturday games are
not announced till late in the week."
The place to look is the
Astro TV site.
Also see ESPN star
site for ESPN schedules - covering the Champions League for many countries
in the continent, as well as carrying SKY's feed of Premiership games.
(thanks to Malcolm and tu7uh for this)
- The Football Channel (Singapore)
-
There's a cable channel called "The Football Channel" which has
very comprehensive coverage of English & Italian footy. At
weekends they'll show a live game as well as several full matches
tape-delayed. (thanks to Martin Hoisington).
- India
- Apparently all the English games available are screened at Narulas on Connaught Place in Delhi, an ex-pat pub. See Astro Supersport above for more on coverage.
- Hong Kong
- Kenneth Leung writes:
The HK cable operator, Cable TV, broadcasts the Premiership and FA Cup live on Sports 1.
The Sunday and Monday live matches that are shown on Sky are shown on Sports 1 live.
However some of the Saturday matches are shown live or delayed live. It really is up to the
cable operator which matches are shown and they are not usually determine until a few days
before the match. No midweek or Worthington Cup matches are shown. The commentary is done
in Cantonese but viewers with Nicam can switch to the English commentary, done by Sky.
Their website is all in Chinese.
Also, ESPN star provides Champions
League coverage.
And in China, some of the Saturday matches are shown live.
Japan
Dave Charlton writes:
"There is live premiership football every Saturday night over here (2
games) as well as the Sunday game. The Monday night game is shown on a
Wednesday. This is shown on J-Sky Sports the local version of Sky
Sports."
Australia
Jamie Ferdinand writes:
Here's some info on Arsenal/Football TV coverage in Australia. Premier
League Matches are screened on Fox Sports every week. Fox Sports is a
cable channel, and because they are part of Rupert Murdoch's empire,
they have access to BSkyB's matches. Therefore, any matches which are
live on Sky in UK are also live here (usually).
They have a website at
