Welcome to the new-look ArseWeb home page!
We've always tried to make everything on ArseWeb easily accessible
by a couple of jumps from the home page.
But as the amount of stuff
on the site has grown over the years, this has led to the home
page getting a bit out of control.
So, with apologies to those who've
always said they liked it the way it was to start with, here's
the new version.
Everything that was on the home page is still here, and there's more
too.
But now instead of it all being on one page, which needs to be scrolled
to see most of the content, the home page is split into sections only
one of which is visible at any one time.
The sections are indicated by the tabs just under the title.
At any one time, one of these tabs is active, indicated by the tab
being in the foreground, with larger darker text than the other tabs.
To see a different section, just click on the appropriate tab.
Some people will still have to scroll down to see everything in the active
section, but that can be done quickly simply by clicking on the active
tab (or on the top red border just below the tabs).
And you can jump up again by clicking on the bottom red border below the
active section.
By default, the ArseWeb home page comes up with the news section active,
but you can bookmark the page with a different section active.
There's a bit more to be done in the way of integrating some of the
old content (eg the links section). But please bear with us,
you should find that in the meantime, everything works just as before.
In testing, some people said they preferred having everything on one
page, so I've made this version
available too. It's not perfect but I'm afraid that getting it to use the
exact same files as the version with tabs imposed certain constraints.
Please let us know if you have any
problems with the new interface.
