What a big weekend for the Arse

After the 1-1 draw at Ipswich, it was a big week for the Arse, with Lazio and Manchester United at home. The week started well with Man U losing to PSV Eindhoven and being third in their Champions League Group, Fergie said he was saving his players for Sunday. I suspect he is a little worried then. GOOD! Hopefully his thoughts were compounded having seen us against Lazio.

Wednesday came and in my heart I believed that we could beat Lazio (all my friends keep saying that I am the eternal optimist when it comes to Arsenal). As I left the office loads of people wished me good luck and said that we would get a thumping, but that's OK as Lazio are one of the best teams in Europe.

I don't really need to tell you what happened, but the boys were awesome, this was some of the best football and control I had seen since we won the Double, the atmosphere was electric, I was beaming and we were top of our Group. We could finish top of the Group. [see report]

I was ecstatic when I went into work on Thursday, my boss who is a Chelsea fan admitted through gritted teeth that we had played well and had obviously learnt everything about playing in Europe from Chelsea. Yesterday morning when I laughed at him (St Gallen), he said I am painful and gloating when Arsenal win and Chelsea didn't want to be in the UEFA Cup and were rubbish and he was going to support someone else! Footie fans are so fickle. But through thick and thin I will always support the boys from N5. Funnily enough my boss and I have a bet as to who will finish higher in the League, I did remind him Chelsea are currently 17th. (Our IT Manager, a Man U fan who comes from London, said it was a fluke and they would hammer us on Sunday).

So Sunday is nearly upon us and Fergie brings Man U down who have let in six goals in two games, (we've let in one). This is always a great game and Freddie I hope you've still got your shooting boots on.
