Preview
- Arsenal team news
Ray Parlour is suspended. He was originally due to have served both
matches of his ban before now, but the postponement of our game in
Leicester on New Years Day means that he still has a match to serve.
Gio van Bronckhorst is also banned (just for this match) after his
sending off in the match at Anfield. With Ashley Cole also suspended
(for reaching 5 yellows), we'll be short of a left-back. Matthew Upson
could well move over.
In midfield, Grimandi is likely to partner Vieira. Alternatively
Wenger could go for a more attacking line-up, using Pires, Edu, or
even Bergkamp in that role.
Arsenal are still hoping that Nigeria and Cameroun will allow Kanu
and Lauren to stay with Arsenal until after this match. See
this newsreel piece for more. If Lauren is not available, Lee Dixon could return.
If Lee is not considered ready, Luzhny will presumably play at right back.
update Monday 7th
The NFA have said that Kanu can stay for the game. See

- Liverpool team news
Vladimir Smicer is doubtful after picking up a back injury in Liverpool's
midweek loss to Southampton. He will be receiving treatment on Friday
before it is decided whether he should travel.
Michael Owen is expected to have shaken off his ankle injury sufficiently
to play, having missed the Soton match. He could be partnered by
Nicolas Anelka.
